CHATEAU LA FLEUR PETRUS
Situated a stone's throw from Chateau Pétrus and adjacent to Lafleur, this vineyard lies on the north-eastern edge of the high plateau of Pomerol, where the soil involves large gravels with very little of the blue clay found in its high-profile neighbours. The château was built in 1782 and has had a strong reputation since the late 1800s.
It was sold to the Moueix family, owners of Chateau Pétrus, in 1953, just in time for the decimating Pomerol frost of 1956, after which it was completely replanted with 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. Since then the quality has headed steadily upwards and there is no doubt that recent vintages are the finest ever produced here.
